Merry Christmas My Deers

My apologies for not posting the past couple of days. I have had Carpel Tunnel surgery on both hands, Nov. 17th and have needed to take it easy. I tend to overdue it sometimes, and then suffer the consequences. The casts are off but then stitches still in. Today, I will post 2 Christmas Cards.

This reindeer can be found here http://www.wood-n-paper-ink.com/s_48.asp?pro=854&c=50&pn=Rudolph
These little guys were stamped, colored and cut out. Mounted with a pop dot on top of layered red & tan circles. Little crystals were added for some bling! The background is stamped with a round stam, then layered on a red card. Not sure if the sentiment is a stamp or a Justrite stamper you change the letters. Regardless, this is a very cute Christmas Greeting! Thanks Denise for this card!

AJ and Inkyhive combo!

I must apologize for not posting before - on our visit of Oct. 8th, AJ was brayering and she did the sky and then stamped the trees, leaving the ground white for snow. . .she didn't care for the sky color and didn't like where she had placed the trees and she was going to toss it!!! I said, OH NO you don't, you can make a card with that. When we got together on the 22nd, I noticed she hadn't touched it, so I brought it home and played with it. I should have scanned it, before I worked/filled in on the bottum. Well, after, I stipple some green and brown in for the ground and filled in the tree trunks with brown, took a fine line black marker and made the extra ink spots, look like birds above the trees. I sent AJ a scan and this is what she said --
Ok, Ok you were right, it could be fixed and used for something!! I really like the added green, that does make a big difference. I could see a little something stamped in the bottom open area. And the birds, they look like real birds, not ooopses! See, One Stampers scrap is another Stampers treasure!! Now, too bad we didn't have a before and after...that would have made for great blogging!! Inkyhive Fixes for AJs messes!!

Please don't ever think it has to be thrown out. . .more times than not, it can be used.

You can get all the stamps from AJ.

Nature gives... 01-W-8026 for Font #1 01-W-8027 Font #2. The tree stamps came from the set Tree Splendor #GA0079, unmounted $12.50. Order on the website, in the comment box say you saw the stamps on the blog, Inkhive or AJ's and I will sell them the set for $9.00!

May you have a wonderful week-end! ~~Inkyhive

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

stamp-n-stencil the Sunflower

Hello, AJ and I had a very nice visit last week. I was going to post when I got home and then the next day and as you know, time just gets away sometimes.
I wanted to share with you, a card I made this afternoon. The stamped image is one of AJ's stamp-n-stencil sets. If you aren't familiar with them, you might want to check them out. You stamp the image and then you use the stencil to put the color where you want it. Very easy and lots of fun.

I hope this will help you create. For me, making cards is great therapy, so relaxing and fun. Some nights I wake up with card ideas flowing through my mind!

God Bless, ~~ Inkyhive

Big Buck

Greetings All,
I stamped this image, the last time AJ and I got together. I'm not sure of the name of this image, but I am sure if you want it, just let AJ know, as she would most assuredly know the stamp! This is a very simple black and white card. Okay, time for you to get some ink on paper.

Good day for fishing

What a great day, for fishing! It has been raining all day and it is in the low 50's. I thought this card would be appropriate to share. This is a stamp-n-stencil set. I'm sorry, the glitter doesn't show, though I do have it on the ripple on the top of the water and on the little fish. I haven't decided if I will give this one to AJ, so she has a hard copy or send to my nephew, who is serving in Iraq, BUT I can always make another one. The stamp-n-stencil sets are a lot fun and easy to do. If you don't have one, you just might want to get one and see what I mean.

I hope your fingers have been getting some ink on them. . .

it is Fall. . .

Fall is in the air and what great colors are on the trees and in the countryside! Today, I thought I would share this card. . . This scarecrow is one of AJ's newer stamps. He's cute don't ya' think?!? I stamp it on white cardstock that a friend had given me, that had been die cut. Then I colored it in, using copic markers. After coloring, the image, I took a sponge and did the sky and for the ground, I torn the edge of scrap paper and used it to mark the ground. I then stamped the saying.

Okay, time for you to stamp. . .

Stamp-n-Stencil Giraffe

Here is my first attempt, first card, using a stamp-n-stencil set. This one is called Giraffe - P288. I stamped the image with black Stazon and then I colored the image using the stencil parts. The coloring is done with a stipple brush. I then cut it out with my oval scalloped nestabilitie and before removing the die, I stippled some green around the inside of the die, leaving the white ring scalloped edge. I layered that on a piece of paper from the pack of Harvest & Holiday. It is by Debbie Mumm for Jo-Ann fabrics and crafts. The card is brown cardstock.

If you don't have one of these sets, you might want to take a look and order one or two or three. It is a lot of fun and very easy.

Hope this helps you getting a card or two made.
hugs,

a nice visit

Yesterday, AJ and I were able to get together. We've had a hard time this summer, planning a time to visit, for life keeps getting in the way : 0 Any who, yesterday we had a very nice visit and we got some stamping in. We are looking to see, if we can have a visit in early October, do more talking and of course stamping and creating! It is always fun to create with another.

Here is a card, I recently made (not yesterday) and I wanted to share it with you. The image is called 'Gone Fishing'. I like how the water looking paper and the strip of glittery paper make up the background. I'm not real good at using background papers, but I am trying.
I do hope to be back soon, with another card or two. Perhaps, it will even be a Fall card. Fall is my favorite season, but the past few days have been Hot and Humid, not fall like at all, though some leaves are changing colors and even have a few leaves on the ground.

another horse

Thought I would share another card, I just completed using the same horse image. This one I colored with my Prismacolor pencils. I took a class on Saturday and learned a bit about color pencils. Now to practice!!!

do you have a horse?

Hello and Happy Thursday. Can you believe it is September already and Fall is in the air? Do you have a horse? Do you go horse riding? I don't do either, but I like horses. I thought I would make a card with this stamp. I stamped the horse head on white cardstock and then I colored it in with a few copic markers. The colors I used were E02, E33, E35, R02, YR00, and 0 the colorless blender. I am new using these markers, but the more I use them, the more I am liking them. After getting the horse colored the way I wanted it, I used a circle scalloped nestabilites die and cut out the image and while the paper was still in the die, I used a duster with some blue ink and went around the image, thus leaving the edge white. I then used a circle nestabilities die and cut the black layer out. I stamped the horseshoe image out twice and cut them out. I colored them in with a silver glitter pen (though you can't see that very well in the scan). I layered the images on a light brown layer, which is 3 3/4 by 5 which I used the Swiss Dots cuttlebug embossing folder on. I really like how the card turned out and I hope you do to. I can think of many people who would enjoy getting a card like this? Can you?

Spotlight that bear!

I got the idea for this card over at Paper Craft Planet. It was quick and easy to do. And I do like the spotlight technique. I apology that it isn't very clear. . .something happened when I uploaded it :-( Here is the link, where I found it. http://www.papercraftplanet.com/group/sketchchallenge/forum/topics/sketch-challenge-july-25-2009

I hope you are all enjoying the summer, which is quickly coming to a close. If you must return to school, for work or learning, I hope you get some extra stamping time in the next couple of weeks and that you continue to make some time on the week-ends, even if only for a few minutes here and there.

it's August 10th, already

Whoa! Can you believe it is already August?!?! Time really seems to have gone by very fast this summer season. I thought I would share this card today. I've had this stamp for awhile and I apologize for not having the name. I am hoping to get a catalog from Amy soon, so that I can help you identify the name or the number of the stamp. In the meantime, just e-mail Amy or leave a comment and tell her you are interested. The stamp has 3 flowers, so I stamped the one flower twice. After coloring in the image, I used my versamark pen to go over the entire image and then embossed with clear embossing powder. I then punched out a circle. First, I used the paper that had the circle punched from placed it on the paper where I wanted the sun and then sponged in some yellow and orange ink. I then removed the reverse mask and place the punched circle on top of the sun and then used several different blues to get the sky effect. I also sponged a little gray over the sun to give the effect of clouds. The dirt or sand, I used embossing paste mixed with pearl-ex and applied. I hope this gives you some ideas and maybe motivate you to make a card. Remember, even if you only stamp 15 minutes a day or so, you will get cards made. AND, every one enjoys getting fun mail.
hugs and Prayers,

sketch challenge

Hi, this card was made using a sketch challenge from the Sweet Stop. Here is the link: http://sweetstopsketches.blogspot.com/2009/07/sweet-stop-sketch-saturday-sss12.html
I decided to use this stamp, after I came in from my flower garden. I used chalks to color and then sealed it with hair spray. The is more vivid in person. Both of these stamps are AJ's Country Stampin's . If you don't see them on Amy's website, please write to Amy and let her know what stamp or stamps you are interested in. You may want to put the word 'stamp' in the subject line to make sure it gets Amy's attention : )

Happy Stamping!

Rural mailbox

I hope you all had a pleasant and safe Independence Day. I haven't done much stamping in the past several days, but I want to share a card, I just finished putting together. The stamp is of course is from AJ's Country Stampin. After coloring it, I use a scallop punch on the right side and layered it on silver paper that was also scalloped. I then layered it on color core paper, after I had run it through my Sizzix, with a CuttleBug embossing folder. After the paper is embossed, I took some fine grit sandpaper, to get the look of the leaves, to stand out a bit more. I layered it on gray paper and then on a shimmery yellow/orange cardstock.

I hope this will give you a lift to create something today.

Childhood Memories?

Hi! Does this remind you of childhood days?!? This stamp can be found on here Summer Days I am not sure if Amy has the verse stamp uploaded yet, but all you have to do is write her and let her know you are interested in it. The rest of the verse is stamped on the inside and it says, Put your heels up, and have an Awesome day!

The tree is stamped on a silver glossy type paper and I embossed it. I colored in the bark with a marker. I then took a sponge and put the different colors on the paper. After, it dried, I trimmed my paper and layered it on black to have it stand out, just a little.

I hope this brings a smile to your face and maybe it will give you a jump start to stamp a card today, "if" you need a jump start! : )

I do hope you had a pleasant week-end. ~~Inkyhive

Hello, I am Inkyhive

I guess it is time to get my feet wet, sort to speak! I am Inkyhive. . . it is my stamping name, and have been going by it for many a year. (I would guess to say, 9 years!) Even the Post Office knows me by that name. Yes, my mail comes addressed to Inkyhive. I am a friend of Amy's and have been making cards with her stamps for sometime. She and I met at a stamp convention, I believe back in the summer of 2000. It was my very first convention and did hubby and I have a great time. We bought a couple of stamps from Amy and Dan. When I got home, I e-mailed her with a question and as they say, the rest is history. Amy lives a little more than an hour south of me and when our schedules allow, which I wish was more often, we get together and stamp a little and chat.

Any way, Amy has asked if I would post a card using her stamps here from time to time. So, I said -- sure, I can do that. :- )

This is a card I made a few weeks ago for a friend of mine in VA who is a teacher's aide.

Here is a card that I made and gave to Amy as she likes to have cards to put up when she is doing a convention.
I wasn't sure what to do with this card, so I thought I would add a road to it. It was very easy. . .take a piece of black paper, make it the size you want, take a white pen and draw lines down the center! I used brads for the hub-caps and I put white dots on the scalloped edge that goes around the saying. It kind of makes it look like wheels!

All are Amy's stamps which you can find at AJ's Country Stampin's If you can't find them, please e-mail Amy. She will be very happy to help you out.

May you have a wonderful day and I hope time for a little stamping!
